“In recent years, adoption of Six Sigma Management System has increased phenomenally. Today 53 % of Fortune-500 companies are using Six Sigma -- and that figure rises to 82 % when you look at just the Fortune-100.”

Lean Six Sigma is a management system that helps any organization to improve their profitability.

It involves systematic data collection & statistical analysis while focusing on the pain areas affecting management to achieve one of the following THREE Goals:

  • Reduce defects in any process to reach a level of less than 3.4 per million opportunities for error.

  • Eliminate Wasteful Practices.

  • Delight internal and external customers by fulfilling their present & future needs

The Ultimate Goal in all these efforts is: To Increase R.O.I. (Profits) for the organization Six Sigma is all about building prevention in processes.

Over the years it has been realized that Lean and Six Sigma methodologies complement each other. The integration of Lean and Six Sigma provides a rapid process improvement strategy for attaining organizational goals.

When separated, Lean Manufacturing cannot bring a process under statistical control, and Six Sigma cannot dramatically improve cycle time or reduce invested capital. Together, synergistic qualities are created to maximize the potential for process improvement.

A famous author M. L. George describes Lean Six Sigma as:

“A methodology that maximizes shareholder value by achieving the fastest rate of improvement in customer satisfaction, cost, quality, process-speed, and invested capital”.
